I am currently writing an article to support my own job search in advertising.
In it I argue that an MBA education is very valuable for people who want to work in the advertising industry, because advertising ultimately deals with business problems.
Normally i wouldn't need to write an article to find a job (my cv would be enough). Trouble is that the advertising industry is not used to dealing with MBA candidates, so a bit of explaining is necessary.
The article is currently in draft version, so any comment is appreciated. Have a look.

Hello Fran. First let me say, I am neither an MBA (I'm an applicant) nor in advertising, although my best friend is, so I have a bit of a perspective on the industry. Overall I think your article definitely demonstrates an understanding of the business issues around advertising. Very well thought out. However, I have two ideas for ways to make it better.
First, I think your last paragraph under point 1 should be fleshed out. Describe WHY an MBA can understand their issues, and why this is better than the typical creative person in an ad agency. Maybe reference how an MBA will be able to distinguish between a good idea and a good idea that truly supports the client's business needs (or something like that). Also, the use of the word "should" in this paragraph makes it a little weak (but maybe that is just the difference between American and British English). I personally think you could use "will" instead and make it stronger.
Second, I think the whole article could stand to be spiced up a bit. Right now it feels very formal and "business-y", which certainly makes sense having been written by an MBA. However, if I understand your reason for writing it, you are hoping to attract the attention of an advertising exec. These types of people are impressed by creativity. I don't really have any ideas for how to inject that into your article (sorry), but I think finding some way to make it a little more fun to read will go a long way.
Good luck!
both very good suggestions Jen. I think you are right. thanks and good luck with the applications.
